TooGeeked on orange roses (AKA Alisha Stalling).
This is my version of a teary eye. I drew it around 9th grade, making this pic two years old. One day in art class my teacher told us to draw ourselves. I couldn’t and I knew it ( too camera shy, lol) so instead I drew a piece of me. My teacher was mad, but she still had to give me an A for working that hard on a single art piece.

The name : Christine Jordan. The level of importance: high. Why? I am a teen editor of YouLit that’s why.  Tuesday, the weekly meeting day, was fun and productive. We did a quick write for 8 minutes about our day. Before that, we welcomed a new member. We also discussed what we liked and disliked about the newest issue. I like how we can work together but in a chill, low pressure environment. HEY … YOU THERE…. TEENAGER…. SUBMIT YOUR AMAZING WORK NOW!!!!! Why? Well… because more people can experience your work and it’s great to add to your list of awesome things you’ve accomplished. With this in mind, PLEASE SUBMIT NOW!!!!!!!

This picture was taken by me, BUT with Kali’s awesome camera. I figured this could be a good picture for either the spring issue or the summer issue. The name of this picture is Epic Green Leaf. Can’t wait for our spring issue!!!

MUSIC, YOU SAY? YouLit Issue #3 is All About the Beat

This year’s Chicago Public Library theme for Book Beats, its summer reading program, is all about music! All throughout the city branches programs and activities will be going on to pay homage to and re-imagine the culture of music. YouLIt will not be missing out on this fun! The next issue of YouLit Magazine will have a section solely dedicated to that which makes you dance, makes you sing, and makes you fist pump!

We are accepting submissions for any poetry, fiction, reviews, essays, graphic designs, and photography inspired by music in any form. We are still accepting non-music themed submissions so send in anything you’ve been working on.

For all the details on how to submit, please visit our Submission Guidelines.

We can’t wait to see what you’ve got!

We are excited to bring to you the second issue of YouLit Magazine! Here you will find amazing stories, poems, blogs and review, photography, and graphics inspired by Neil Gaiman’s Neverwere, the Spring 2011 One Book, One Chicago selection. We think it’s an awesome issue and we hope you do too!
